Assan Aluminum
Assan Aluminum plant first started in 1987 with a conventional continuous casting and cold rolling line. The current facilities are located in a closed area of 73,000 sqm (~785,791 sq. ft) inside the company owned 32 hectares of land in Tuzla, Istanbul.
Four additional continuous thin gauge casting lines (speed casters) and an additional cold rolling line, capable of producing widest (an average width of 2000 mm (~78.8 inch)) flat rolled products with the use of the latest technology enable Assan to cast at thickness less than 3 mm (~0.1182 inch) up to 120,000 mt/year.
Alloys of 1100, 1050 from 1000 series, 3003, 3005, 3105 from 3000 series, 5005, 5754 from 5000 series and 8000 series are used to produce a wide variety of products for the construction, transportation, white goods and brown goods, packaging and electrical sectors. Current rolling capacity is around 105,000 metric tons a year.
The foil production line has been actively serving the domestic and international markets since 1995 with superior quality products for converting, household and pharmaceutical uses as well as for bottle caps, containers, finstock and filters up to 1700 mm (~66.98 inch) width. The total annual foil production capacity is close to 20,000 metric tons of foil in the thickness range of 6,35 to 200 microns.
Assan Aluminum has been a continuous growth path since its inception and is now preparing to invest for additional foil lines in the next two years in order to reach an annual capacity of 60,000 metric tons of coil/sheet and 60,000 metric tons of foil products.
Assan's products are marketed throughout the world around 50% of the current production destined for exports. Its ongoing thin gauge continuous production technology development program in close cooperation with the National Scientific and Technological Research Organization has been very successful, while recent research and trials point to exciting new possibilities for the transportation industry.
